Descended from artists, Dr. Steve Laverson has inborn ability to visualize three dimensional beauty, and was raised in a creative environment. Also interested in science and engineering, he attended the United States Naval Academy on a Congressional Appointment from 1975-77, and graduated summa cum laude with a zoology major from the University of Maryland in 1979. He applied to medical school, and was admitted to the University of Maryland at Baltimore. The hospital environment was unpleasant for Steve as a third year student, until he learned about the specialty of plastic surgery. Only then did he realize there was a place in medicine for him. Plastic surgery was a specialty he knew he would enjoy, and that would put his natural ability to good use. Because Steve loves human beauty, human victory in life's struggles, and because he understands the great importance of personal appearance to self identity, from that moment on, Steve Laverson has had a strong passion to gift beauty and improved quality of life for others to enjoy and to benefit from.
